The evil little wussy, the faux Redbone Ray Bridges, loves me. He has sent me a nasty gram through his blog, guess that says it all. Why he would want to dress up as a Grandmotherly person to make his point beats me -- he does have a gender conflict. http://redbones-rhf.blogspot.com/
I interviewed Stacy Webb this week over at the Redbone Heritage Foundation. These were the questions that were posed.
Question One. "What was the outcome of the special election this past year?"
Stacy Webb's reply. "For one, the voting membership of RHF, without one negative vote, voted to remove Ray Bridges as Vice President of RHF."
Question Two. "But wasn't Ray due for replacement in 2007 anyway?"
Stacy Webb's reply. "Yes, Ray Bridges, served as VP but was slated for removal in 2007. A vote by the membership made it official. I don't think many people had much confidence in Ray to begin with when he seemed to go off on folks in an abusive manner resorting to using repulsive language. Based on his limited research and lack of knowledge in regard to the ethnic history of the people known as Redbone he was unable to contribute toward the efforts of RHF. Ray also seemed to have issues with his personal SSA DNA results. His gay agenda blog and his offensive language and statements drew RHF supporters and members away."
Question Three. "What was the DNA testing all about, was that the Sub Saharan African percentage results and an immediate relation came up with a high percentage -- 16-17% I think?"
Stacy Webb's reply. "Yes, that was what was given to the RHF DNA database."
Question Four. "You know, LV Hayes is a close cousin to Ray, or so he claims. Do you think that DNA report includes LV Hayes as well?"
Stacy Webb's reply. "I don't know, it might be but I do not know much about where LV connects into Ray's Redbone families. I am likely related to LV if I am related to Ray."
Question Five. "I understand that "J" is making disparaging comments on the Redbone site about RHF "being Kaput," what is that all about?"
Stacy Webb's reply. "J" is simply doing her own thing however she has been supportive in the past to RHF. Perhaps she thought the recent negative factional hate related groups that have sprung up in the last few years with their nasty reviews of RHF had caused it to falter? I do not know why she would make such a statement at all as she herself participated in the conference last year."
Question Six. "What do you mean by factional hate groups?"
Stacy Webb's reply. "RHF is very much aware that many faction groups have become common and rampant throughout the Redbone society of genealogist. However RHF has taken the opinion that mostly the ideologies and hostile attacks toward RHF's efforts are sadly based on a lack of understand and acceptance of the Redbone's racially diverse heritage. We believe these feelings and rebuke of ones ancestry a direct result of the historical societal and in some cases self/familia imposed oppression toward the acceptance of mixed ethnic heritage. RHF is dedicated and designed only to addressing the real time responsibility of further research into the ethnic origins and documentation of the culture of those people known as Redbone. RHF is not an organization designed to address the emotional dynamics involved in ones personal acceptance of a racially mixed heritage. However, RHF has implemented new policies and procedures with regard to those groups who express negative feelings/hyper-sensitivity toward their/our historical ethnic heritage by concentrating our efforts on further education and understanding.
Redbone Heritage Foundation's goals have been firmly established within our mission statement. The purpose of The Redbone Heritage Foundation is to foster research into the origins, the history, the culture, and the ethnicity of those people known as Redbones. Members will be encouraged to conduct such research in a scientific manner without prejudice or predetermined conclusions. Material pertaining to these people will be preserved, published, and made available to other researchers further research and study.
On another vein, you know, we are turning over rocks on the Redbones and reporting what we find -- what's under the rock is what you get -- if you can't accept the reality of this research, you probably should stay out of it. No fairy tales -- no pun intended!
Certainly, acceptance of our mixed racial heritage including the amounts of Sub Saharan African, East Asian, Native American and any other racial influence will and have been recorded within the reporting DNA results. If you are queasy about accepting the likely hood of the facts, then I suggest that you should not test. But, Yes, there are percentages reported from testings that show the Redbones have a diverse and mixed ethnic heritage, on these shores (America). If you do not want to accept these results then you should not do DNA testing or contribute them to the RHF DNA database."
Question Six. "What do you think about the current Melungeon problem?"
Stacy Webb's reply. "I really don't understand what the issue is all about. Mostly what I have read has been based on hearsay! Could this be another example of factional opinions stemming from the racial mixtures among the Melungeon People..certainly, however at the moment I really don't have an opinion that I would say in this blog.
The Melungeon Heritage Association has announced their annual union in June. RHF looks forward to continued support and promotion of the Melungeon and Redbone people by attendance and scheduled presentations by officers."
Question Seven. "So the RHF is alive and well? No problems over there?"
Stacy Webb's reply. "RHF continues to thrive, grow and share with others each day. It's officers, board members & member supporters continue to express a strong desire and courage to share and contribute to the goals and efforts of RHF. The Redbone Chronicles (you may visit the RHF bookstore for subscription information) an affordable, bi-yearly publication, has emerged as a powerful researcher tool for many genealogists, academia, museums and libraries alike. The publication is full of articles, essays and genealogies contributed by scholars, educators, researchers, genealogists and descendants.
Despite what "J" or others might think RHF continues to grow in our research. People come and go. We wish them much success in their quest."
Question Eight. "So where does RHF go from here?"
Stacy Webb's Reply. "We have identified several new candidates to fill officer positions and board member positions, and we will have the membership vote on those persons soon. The proposed candidates are: Alvie Walts, Vice President, Cyndie Goins Hoelsher, Secretary and we have a new registered agent in Louisiana named Diane Melchior. All of the RHF board and membership look forward to a bright and enlightened future."
Best Wishes
